PracticeMaster review:
by Chad McKenney, Attorney and Laurie Barnard, Paralegal

We are a three attorney general practice law firm with a heavy business practice in Minneapolis. PracticeMaster by Software Technology, Inc. was our choice of case management software due to outstanding technical support, seamless integration with our Tabs3 Billing Software and overall value.

PracticeMaster and Tabs3 truly share one database so we will never experience data integrity issues due to importing and exporting data between programs or managing multiple databases. An address change is updated in one place and used in all correspondence eliminating those embarrassing wrong address situations.

All client-related email, legal research, phone logs and case notes are easily logged to client journals. We manage internal workflow and keep track of delegated items through calendar plans. Data is entered once and used for numerous documents. Reports are easily generated on any information in the database. The time required to create a full set of incorporation documents or estate planning documents will be reduced by 75% or more. Fees and/or calendar entries can be tied into the document assembly process so that these tasks are not forgotten.

It is important to make sure your software consultant understands the practice of law as well as the technology aspects. We chose Legal Data Management & Technology to implement and design our PracticeMaster system because their team includes a bookkeeper and a paralegal with 25+ combined years of law firm experience who truly understand the inner workings of a law office. They are committed to designing case management systems that adapt to the law firm instead of forcing the law firm to adapt its practice to the technology. We are confident that we will recover the cost of this project in increased productivity and recovered billable time.
